My name is Micah McFarland
I’m a Sound Designer
based in Los Angeles.
From the early days of making radio plays with my siblings to launching a narrative companion podcast of an Emmy-winning sci-fi series, I’ve always been passionate about storytelling through audio and sound. I’ve worked as an A/V tech and sound engineer for live events, I’ve run and recorded sound for film and TV production, and I’ve done every job there is in podcasting.
I’m a one-stop shop for your audio needs. From recording to editing and sound design to composing original music, I want to make your audio stories come to life.

Artificial Uncovered is a narrative companion podcast to the Emmy and Peabody-winning sci-fi series, Artificial. My roles on this project included editing, mixing, and mastering the show; selecting and editing the music; researching AI topics and writing scripts; and distributing the podcast on various platforms.
This bi-weekly podcast ran for 15 episodes. Listen to the trailer below or click the link to explore the whole show.
Low Hanging Fruit is a short audio comedy created for Backstage’s Sound Stories Competition. I was the sound editor and designer for this piece, including sourcing dozens of sound effects and creating foley where needed. I also composed and recorded the original music, and did the final mixing and mastering.
The logline for this fun piece: “In order to satiate their cravings for meat (aka men), Emily and Natasha attempt to find a new man to seduce during Coronavirus, which has complicated the way they meet guys. The women test how low their dating app standards can go, while simultaneously hiding a devious secret of their own.”
In my free time I’m also a musician and composer. I create instrumental pieces of all genres. Check out the track below or click the link to see more of my music. Music is a passion of mine, but I love bringing these skills to my other audio work including scoring film projects or podcasts.
